Amitabh Bachchan is a well-known actor who has worked in over 200 films. Hailed as the ‘Shahenshah of Bollywood’, the actor has built a massive fan base for himself. However, he is not just the biggest star of Bollywood but also equally humble and supportive of his peers. His grounded nature worked both for and against him, and his former co-star, Moushumi Chatterjee, once spoke about the same.
Moushumi Chatterjee revealed she pitied Amitabh Bachchan
In an old interview with Filmfare, Moushumi Chatterjee opened up about her collaboration with the superstar of the Indian film industry, Amitabh Bachchan. The actress has worked with Big B in films like Manzil, Roti Kapda Aur Makaan and most recently Piku. During the conversation, Moushumi opened up about her experience working with Amitabh and shared her views on the immense fame he had achieved over the decades and how he managed it.
In the interview, Moushumi Chatterjee shared that Amitabh Bachchan is an extremely intelligent man who speaks with the utmost responsibility. However, she feels like this calculated behaviour is pitiful, as in her opinion, it must feel like he is always putting on a show. However, she admitted that there is a chance she might be wrong, as no one knows how it feels to achieve what he has. She was quoted as saying:
“Amitabh Bachchan is a very intelligent man. He always uses politically correct words. I sometimes pity him because I think most of the time he is only performing because that is all that he knows. I might be wrong, but that’s how I feel about him. It is because of his image. He has a huge image, which nobody else has managed to achieve.”
Moushumi Chatterjee compares Amitabh Bachchan to Rajesh Khanna
In the same conversation, Moushumi Chatterjee compared Amitabh Bachchan with another Bollywood superstar, the dreamboat, Rajesh Khanna and explained how both of them managed their stardom differently. She elaborated that Amitabh Bachchan has managed to stay grounded despite his immense success. However, Rajesh Khanna struggled with the same, and always needed to be pampered.

Moushumi cited a proverb and stated that the difference between Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna was similar to the difference between an illiterate goon and an educated goon. She revealed how she had never seen Amitabh being surrounded by flatterers. She was quoted as saying:
“Amitabh has managed to stay grounded despite immense success. Something that Rajesh Khanna failed at. He was blown up by his success. As the saying goes: ‘Ek anpadh gunda aur ek padhe likhe gunde mein bahaut farq hota hai.’ I have never seen Amitabh Bachchan with flatterers. However, Rajesh Khanna was always surrounded by these people. He needed that attention and pampering.”
