Just hours before Independence Day, a 27-year-old man was shot multiple times behind a police station in New Delhi in the early hours of Friday. The incident occurred near Tikona Park in Shahdara at around 1.07 am on the intervening night of August 14-15, 2025.
According to police, the man, identified as Akhil Panwar, sustained four bullet injuries in the alleged attack. A PCR call was received at Shahdara Police Station at 1.43 am reporting that two brothers, Saurav and Gaurav Nagar, had lured the survivour’s friend to the spot and opened fire. The injured person was immediately rushed to Max Hospital for treatment. Sources told India Today TV that Akhil is now out of danger.
Police said the alleged motive behind the attack was a trivial dispute over abusive words exchanged between the Akhil and the accused brothers. Saurav and Gaurav Nagar are currently absconding.
The case has been registered under Sections 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act. A police team has been deployed to trace the accused.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
In a similar incident earlier this week, a 25-year-old man was shot by three men after a scuffle over a monetary dispute in Delhi’s Geeta Colony area. The complainant, Shivam Sharma, told police that he had lent money to a couple — Sheetal and her husband Sonu — who live in Kundan Nagar. However, despite repeated requests, they did not return the money.
The dispute escalated near Jagatpuri red light in the morning. Later, when Sharma, accompanied by his friend Jatin Nagpal, went to Taj Enclave to resolve the matter, three men — Shadab, Harshu, and Raman — confronted them. A scuffle broke out, during which Shadab allegedly opened fire, hitting Sharma with two rounds.
All three accused fled the scene, and police launched a hunt to apprehend them.
