Telfar takes the streets of New York City in style with the label’s latest bag launch. The fashion brand taps into the nostalgia craze and puts a reusable spin on the iconic plastic bag, featuring new styles and sizes.
Established in 2005 by Telfar Clemens, Telfar expands its accessories with the latest design. The Telfar “plastic” bag, made of 100 percent nylon, is a spin on the disposable silhouette found throughout New York City, featured in a campaign with subtle nods to Y2K style sensibility.

The bag comes in 11 prints and two sizes. The smiley face plastic bag, “Thank You for Shopping,” and more styles feature throughout the accessory capsule, ranging in regular and jumbo sizes. Regular Telfar plastic bag styles retail for $145, with the jumbo version priced at $195.
The Telfar plastic bag line is available Friday on the fashion label’s official website beginning at noon ET. The bags will also be available in-store at the Telfar New York flagship following its online debut.

Telfar celebrated its 20th anniversary with the brand’s spring 2025 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted as part of New York Fashion Week in June. In his show notes, founder and designer Clemens reflected on 20 years of the brand’s collections, styles and innovations.
“This show celebrates our 20th anniversary. Everything Telfar couldn’t rely on when we started this line: investors, buyers, factors, distributors, press, celebs, cosigns, d, e or i — we still don’t rely on today,” Clemens’ show notes read, per Emily Mercer’s WWD review of the collection. “Everything we did rely on — family, friends, vision, bulls–t alarms and commitment — holds us down to this day.”

In 2022, Telfar saw a major rise in popularity thanks to another of the brand’s bag designs: The Telfar Shopping Bag. It was the first time the label’s average value retention on the secondary market exceeded all legacy brands, including Hermès, per luxury reseller Rebag’s Clair report for 2022.
