Shilpa Shirodkar was once the leading heroine of Bollywood in the late ’90s. The actress is leading the headlines after she revealed that her car was hit by a bus in Mumbai. Shilpa and her staff are unhurt, but the incident was very disturbing for Shilpa. The actress reached out to the bus company’s owners, but their response to the matter shocked her.

Shilpa Shirodkar’s car was hit by a bus

Taking to her IG stories, Shilpa shared a picture of the bus that hit her car, along with a photo of the car’s condition. In her note, Shilpa mentioned how the bus company’s owner refused to take responsibility for the accident and instead blamed it on the driver. She penned:

“A Cityflo bus ran into my car today. And the people representing the office in Mumbai, Mr. Yogesh Kadam and Mr. Vilas Mankote, are telling me it’s not their company’s responsibility, it’s the driver’s responsibility. How ruthless are these guys? How much can a driver be earning!”

In the same IG story, Shilpa also stated that she had filed a complaint regarding the incident and noted that, although her staff was unharmed, anything could have happened. In her words:

“Thanks to @mumbaipolice @cpmumbaipolice, they helped me file a police complaint without much problem. But the company refuses to take any responsibility for the incident. @cityflo.ind appreciate you to connect with me on this matter. Thankfully, my staff is fine and unhurt, but anything could have happened.”

Shilpa Shirodkar’s professional journey

Shilpa Shirodkar is the younger sister of Namrata Shirodkar. The actress made her Bollywood debut in 1989 with Ramesh Sippy’s film, Bhrashtachar. She has worked with some of the leading names in Hindi cinema, including Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Sridevi, Suniel Shetty, Shah Rukh Khan, and many more.

Some of Shilpa Shirodkar’s famous films include Trinetra, Hum, Khuda Gawah, Aankhen, Pehchaan, Gopi Kishan, Bewafa Sanam, Mrityudand, Gaja Gamini, and many more. After a brief stint, Shilpa quit acting in 2000 when she was at the peak of her career as she got married to a UK-based banker, Aparesh Ranjit. Post a 13-year gap, she made her comeback in 2013 with Zee TV’s show Ek Mutthi Aasmaan.

Do you know that Shilpa Shirodkar was the first choice for the popular song, Chaiyya Chaiyya? However, she lost the opportunity as she was ‘fat’. During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Shilpa revealed how she was fat-shamed and stated that she was not suitable for the part. In her words:

“She just said that we will work some other time because they are looking for someone else. ‘You are a little fatter’. Something like this… I don’t even remember anymore. I know I missed it because I was fat. I will always feel bad that I didn’t get Chaiyya Chaiyya but God gave me much more and he is still giving me.”
