Scottie Scheffler is an American professional golf player, who holds the number one rank in the Official World Ranking. Recently, he grabbed the headlines for flourishing in two different careers, sports and acting. For the unversed, Scottie won the 2025 PGA Championship on July 20, 2025, and he also made his acting debut with the film, Happy Gilmore 2. Besides being a legend in golf, Scottie is a loving husband and father.

The couple hailed from Dallas and had known each other since their high school days. The duo met in their first year at Highland Park High School. The two began dating in their senior year. However, they chose different colleges. Scottie went to the University of Texas, while Meredith went to Texas A&M. This was a testing time for the couple because they had to maintain a long-distance relationship for four years. Later, in June 2020, the two got engaged. It was the American golfer who proposed to his beloved, while they were hiking at Arbour Hills Nature Preserve in Texas.

When Meredith was in her senior year at Highland Park High School, she knew her then boyfriend and now husband, Scottie Scheffler, was good at golf. However, it was a commercial featuring Scottie that left Meredith in awe. At the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions, Scottie shared the incident. Back in 2013, the American golfer won the US Junior, and in 2014, when he was a high school student, he got an opportunity to play in the Byron Nelson. So, at that time, he visited Meredith’s house and was having some conversations with her father, when a commercial popped up. After watching Scottie in the commercial, Meredith became fully impressed. Recalling the moment, Scottie said:
“I won the U.S. Junior in 2013, and in 2014, I had the opportunity to play in the Byron Nelson as a high school student. I was at [Meredith’s] house one day, we were hanging out with her dad or something, and the commercial came on TV. And she was kind of looking around. She was like, ‘Wait a minute, isn’t that next weekend? Isn’t that what you’re doing?’ She’s like, ‘Wow, that’s cool!'”

On December 4, 2020, Scottie tied the knot with her high school love, Meredith. The couple had a traditional ceremony at a church in their hometown. It was a hush-hush event in the presence of their family and close friends. Later, the duo organised a special themed reception. According to John Cain Photography, the guests were invited to a winter wonderland-themed reception at Arlington Hall.
The wedding venue was decorated with garlands, red bows and Christmas lights. The guests were given the classic red Santa hats and snow, so that when the newlyweds left the ballroom, they could shower them with the items. The bride and groom then drove off in a golf cart with a “Just Married” banner.

On May 8, 2024, Scottie and Meredith embraced parenthood for the first time. They welcomed their little bundle of joy, a baby boy and named him Benett. Taking to his Instagram handle, Scottie shared the good news with an adorable picture of himself holding Bennett in his arms, and wrote an emotional note. The note can be read as:
“Welcome to the world, little one. Your mom & dad love you so much.”
In March 2024, people first learned that the couple was expecting, when Meredith appeared at the event, cheered for her husband as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Meredith’s baby bump was clearly visible at that time. However, the little one had a big moment in September 2024, when his father won the FedExCup. Benett sat on a trophy and posed for the camera with his parents, Scottie and Meredith, alongside.

In June 2025, when Scottie won at the Memorial Tournament, the American golfer told CBS Sports that it was his wife, who had been the biggest cheerleader and also called her his ‘best friend’. He credited her wife for the win. Back in April 2024, when Scottie won the Masters golf tournament for the second time, his wife, Meredith, was nine months pregnant with their first child. So, she couldn’t attend the event and cheer for him. During the victory speech, the American golfer dedicated some beautiful words to his wife. He was quoted as saying:
“To my lovely wife, Meredith. I love you, sweetheart. I’m excited to get home. I miss you.”
