    Saiyaara Actor Varun Badola Recalls Spending Rs. 250 On Food, ‘Didn’t Have Money For Three Days…’

    Varun Badola is one of the most popular actors in the Hindi Television industry. Some of his popular shows are Banegi Apni Baat, Koshish – Ek Asha, Des Mein Nikla Hoga Chand and Astitva…Ek Prem Kahani. Besides being a popular face in Hindi TV serials, Varun has also appeared in films. The actor was recently seen in the blockbuster film, Saiyaara, in a supporting role.

    Despite being a popular actor, who has been a part of many films and television shows, Varun had his fair share of struggles. In an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Varun spoke about facing financial crunch at many phases of his life despite maintaining a low profile. The actor revealed that he had never spent lavishly and never needed multiple cars or a big house.

    Going further in the interaction, Varun shared that despite keeping his expenses low, he often faced financial constraints since he never worked for money. For the unversed, Varun started his career assisting Tigmanshu Dhulia in Haasil and Charas. During that time, he was clueless about surviving the next two months.

    Varun Badola believed in exploring his creativity and hence never gave weightage to money, which led to many problems in his life. The actor hardly saved anything. Recalling an incident from his struggling time, Varun shared:

    “A friend and I were living together. We only had Rs 250 left, and we had absolutely nothing else. We decided to go out and splurge on Chinese food. After that, we went to a quarter bar and shared a drink. We didn’t have money for three days after that. We got work after that, and got through another month with that Rs 3000 or Rs 4000. But these things happen.”

    When Varun Badola revealed ‘bankruptcy keeps knocking’ at his door

    This is not the first time Varun has addressed his tight financial situation. In a past interview with Siddarth Kannan, Varun revealed that he works only six months for every two years, and when finances run low, he looks for work again. The actor also stated that bankruptcy keeps knocking on his door every few years.

    Recalling a challenging time, Varun revealed that he had only one and a half to two months of savings. With just Rs. 2 lakhs in his account, Varun revealed that he had seven mouths to feed. Speaking about the same, he shared:

    “It was a family of seven, and most people don’t realise this, but when you have a young child at home, your expenses goes through the roof. And then you add the dogs; it’s very expensive to take care of them. I was almost down to my last penny.”
