Kia India has announced that its newly launched Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV have collectively crossed 21,000 bookings within just four months of launch, signalling robust consumer interest in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants.
The Carens Clavis accounted for over 20,000 bookings, while the Clavis EV secured more than 1,000 orders, marking a strong debut for Kia’s first Made-in-India electric model.
Joonsu Cho, Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, “We are thrilled with the overwhelming response for our Carens Clavis and Clavis EV models. This strong demand is a testament to the trust customers place in Kia and reinforces our commitment to bringing innovation, safety, and comfort in our vehicles. We are proud that both ICE and EV models resonate so strongly with Indian consumers, affirming Kia’s leadership in the segment.”
The Carens Clavis combines SUV strength, MPV comfort, and family car versatility, featuring sliding and reclining second-row seats, one-touch electric tumble, and a segment-first “Boss Mode” for easier third-row access. The premium cabin offers dual 12.3-inch panoramic displays, Bose 8-speaker audio, 64-colour ambient lighting, dual dashcam, and a unique climate control/infotainment swap switch.
The Clavis retains the Carens’ existing engine range while adding a new manual gearbox option for the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol. You can choose from a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 115bhp and 144Nm, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol delivering 160bhp and 253Nm, or a 1.5-litre diesel developing 116bhp and 250Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed DCT, catering to a variety of driving needs.
For the Clavis EV, two battery pack options are available: a 42kWh unit with an ARAI-certified range of 404km and a larger 51.4kWh pack offering up to 490km (MIDC) on a full charge. It supports 100kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10–80% top-up in just 39 minutes.
The electric model also offers two motor outputs: 99kW and 126kW, both delivering 255Nm of torque, with the larger battery variant accelerating from 0–100km/h in 8.4 seconds. Designed for Indian conditions, the battery carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and uses a liquid-cooled thermal management system. Additionally, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability allows the EV to power external devices and appliances.
Safety is a core highlight, with both models equipped with Level 2 ADAS offering over 20 autonomous features, alongside six airbags, ESC, rear occupant alert, and a 360-degree camera system.
With the Carens Clavis line-up, Kia aims to strengthen its position in India’s mass-premium segment by catering to both family-focused ICE buyers and eco-conscious EV adopters.
