It’s Coolie release day, and Rajinikanth fans have been filling theatres since midnight. To handle the overwhelming rush, theatres opened early for special morning shows. Inside, the atmosphere feels more like a stadium, with energetic fans cheering at full volume for Thalaiva’s much-awaited first collaboration with Lokesh Kanagaraj. Meanwhile, fan reviews for Coolie are already flooding social media.
The film received mixed reviews, as some praised Rajinikanth’s energy and performance, others felt it failed to live up to the hype.
One of the die-hard fans of Rajinikanth shared a post on X and wrote, “Lokesh Kanagaraj and team delivered a blockbuster.1st Half – Good mix of Mass & Loki’s plot twists. One of the best de-aging in Kollywood. The mass scenes in the second half worked out big time (sic), while another wrote, “#CoolieThePowerHouse Grand Entry Of #Rajinikanth #LokeshKanagaraj Cooked Well (sic).” A third user chimed in and wrote, “We are witnessing the only actor in the world who is going to give hit as lead actor after spending 50years in cinema.”

There were some who were disappointed with the film’s storyline and acting.

Rajinikanth’s upcoming crime-thriller ‘Coolie’, also features actors Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan and others in key roles. The film is set in the backdrop of gold-smuggling.
The film’s release on August 14 clashed with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s ‘War 2’.
