Angel Reese’s signature sneaker debut was officially revealed by Reebok just more than a month ago, but the brand had kept its lips tight on the release date. That’s changed Thursday.
The Reebok Angel Reese 1 will release in mid-September with three launch colorways: Diamond Dust, Mebounds and Receipts Ready. Appearing in gray with an iridescent finish, the Diamond Dust colorway was the variant shown for the model’s unveiling. The tonal pink Mebounds then debuted during the WNBA All-Star Game, which employs Reese’s favorite color, as a crack at her detractors who use the term to describe her rebounds off of her own missed shots. Receipts Ready represents a similar attitude toward critics and appears in white, black and red.
“This isn’t just a shoe, it’s my style, my story and my stamp on the game,” Reese said in a press release. “I wanted to design a basketball shoe that elevates performance, innovation, style and creative expression, all at once. Reebok and I built something that’s true to who I am, and I hope it pushes others to stand in their power too.”
Underfoot, the Angel Reese 1 uses the Energy Return System, which is made up of a lightweight EVA midsole with nitrogen-infused Superfloat foam pods at the heel and forefoot for impact absorption and energy return. A TPU Stability Cup provides structure at the heel, while the upper’s stability comes from a lightweight, molded exoskeleton made with the same material.
Reese is the first athlete to get a signature model since the relaunch of Reebok Basketball, which is being led by Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson as president and vice president, respectively.
“The Angel Reese 1 marks the next chapter for Reebok Basketball, where performance meets personal style, and bold design leads the way,” said Todd Krinsky, chief executive officer and president at Reebok. This shoe captures Angel’s unique mix of elegance and strength, with sculpted details, sharp lines and a signature logo that reflects her presence on and off the court.”
The Reebok Angel Reese 1 in its Diamond Dust, Mebounds and Receipts Ready colorways will release Sept. 18 through Reebok’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $120.
