Back in May, it was confirmed that Ariana Grande had landed a role in the upcoming Meet The Parents sequel, Focker In-Law, which is currently scheduled for release around Thanksgiving 2026.
For context, the first movie came out in 2000, and stars Ben Stiller as Gaylord “Greg” Focker, who is planning to propose to Teri Polo’s character, Pamela Byrnes. As you probably know, the film is all about Greg meeting his future in-laws for the first time, with Robert De Niro playing his terrifying soon-to-be father-in-law, Jack Byrnes, who takes an instant dislike to him.
Then, in 2004, the first sequel, Meet The Fockers, was released. Here, Greg and Pamela make their parents spend time together ahead of their wedding, with Barbra Streisand and Dustin Hoffman famously taking on the roles of Greg’s mom and dad.
Meanwhile, Little Fockers came out in 2010, which follows Greg and Pam after they have welcomed twins.
While little is known about Focker In-Law, it is thought that Ariana will be playing the fiancée of Greg and Pam’s son — and Ben heaped praise on the star when discussing her casting during an appearance on Today back in June.
Then, last month, it was reported that Superman actor Skyler Gisondo was in talks to star opposite Ariana in Focker In-Law, playing Greg and Pam’s son.
Fast-forward to Tuesday, and 29-year-old Skyler confirmed his role in the upcoming movie by sharing a screenshot of a Deadline news report about his casting to Instagram.
Taking the Ari fan’s response in his stride, Skyler also included screenshots of the aforementioned tweet in his photo carousel, and joked in the post’s caption: “Proud to be a Focker. As you can see, initial fan reaction looking very positive.”
While Ariana liked Skyler’s post, she didn’t leave a comment.
Interestingly, Ariana’s boyfriend and love interest in the Wicked movies, Ethan Slater, also liked the post.
Unsurprisingly, the original X user was stunned to be included in Skyler’s Instagram announcement, and simply quote-tweeted their original tweet with a screenshot of his post and wrote: “OH MY GOD.”
