Colson Baker, professionally known as MGK, formerly Machine Gun Kelly, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, producer and actor. Known for his tracks such as The Rap Devil, Merry Go Round, A Little More and Bloody Valentine, the rapper has given the world some of the best and most controversial tracks. However, with his latest album, Lost Americana, the singer has decided to get vulnerable with his fans, and in a recent podcast, he has also opened up about his rehab stay and relationship with Megan Fox.
MGK spent last Christmas in a rehab facility
MGK is set to take the stage with a new record, Lost Americana, and it will give the fans an insight into what happened between him and Megan Fox. For the unversed, the duo shared one of the most chaotic relationships in the industry. Their on-again, off-again relationship, marked by blood-stained necklaces, a thorned ring, and an overall unorthodox dynamic, often made headlines. However, they broke up, while Megan was pregnant with their daughter, Saga, who is now 4 months old. MGK also has another daughter, Casie, from a previous relationship.
MGK sat for a candid podcast with The New York Times, where he opened up about how he spent his last holidays in a rehab facility. The rapper recalled that he admitted himself to a rehab facility in late November 2024, and spent the entire December 2024 there. MGK has been extremely honest about his struggle with mental health and destructive capabilities. He was quoted as saying:
“I spent Christmas and New Year’s, the whole month of December and late November in a rehab facility.”
MGK on tearing down his relationship with Megan Fox
In the same conversation, MGK revealed that this album is not just about great music but also a mirror to his own self. He shared how he ruins everything so he has something to write about. He further talked about his relationship with Megan Fox and recalled how everyone saw what happened between them. MGK also admitted that he was hypersensitive and always prepared to start a war. However, he was finally addressing the ‘broken boy’ instead of being focused on the polarising figure. He was quoted as saying:
“I say it on the first track of Lost Americana, where I said, ‘All the pages are blank until my life goes to shit. I know I do that on purpose just to write again.’ Great bar, it truly sums up the totality of what I do, almost before every album cycle. We watched it with this one; you have seen it in the news. I feel like I’m about to ruin everything. I put so much weight on my art that I essentially feel like, ‘Oh, I’ll bleed out and die for this.’ There is no beguiling on this album. This album is not a character.”

MGK wants to get better for his daughters
MGK has a long road ahead of him; he has addressed the same on his album, Lost Americana. The rapper talked about ruining holidays and lying to his family about everything. He also talked about his relationship with Megan Fox and shared how he destroyed something he truly loved. However, he wants to be better for their daughter, Saga. The rapper in a conversation with PEOPLE urged the media to keep their abby out of the situation. However, he also expressed that he is hopeful this album will allow his fans to see him completely and even give his haters a different perspective. He stated:
“Vulnerability is how I was able to hold on to the fan base I’ve had for so many years. The human behind the music has to show them the human side… Maybe this time, [my haters] will get to know the man-slash-broken-boy behind the moniker MGK.”
