Maris Ellington was killed by an orca? Here’s the truth
A few months ago, a post surfaced on the internet which claimed that trainer, Maris Ellington was killed by an orca during their performance at Ocean World. It was widely circulated on social media. The post on Facebook claimed that in a tragic incident, Maris Ellington was killed by an orca named Cairo.
The post shared that Maris had a strong bond with marine life. However, during a performance, something terrible happened, which resulted in the death of Maris. The post highlighted how marine trainers are at risk while working with sea creatures in captivity. The post can be read as:
“Life is unpredictable. Documentary about a tragic incident involving an orca trainer named Maris Ellington and an orca named Cairo. The incident occurred during a routine performance at Ocean World, where Maris had a strong bond with marine life. Unfortunately, the performance went terribly wrong, resulting in a heartbreaking tragedy. This documentary explores the events leading up to the incident, shedding light on the risks trainers face when working with marine life in captivity. It sparks a critical conversation about the ethics of using marine animals for entertainment purposes and the consequences of broken trust between humans and these creatures.”
The post further revealed that Maris’ accident with an orca is an eye opener at how we treat marine life in captivity. The post added that better safety should be provided in these circumstances. The post was concluded with:
“Maris Ellington’s story serves as a catalyst for change in how we treat marine life in captivity, highlighting the need for reform and deeper respect for the natural world. Her legacy lives on, reminding us of the importance of prioritizing animal welfare and safety in these settings.”
According to an investigation by Fact Crescendo, the story is entirely false. There is no credible evidence to support the claim that a marine trainer was killed by an orca. It was clear that there were no signs of such an accident, and the pictures were digitally altered. Also, there is no official news report, marine park statement or verified documentation confirming the existence of a person named Maris Ellington, or of her alleged death by an orca.
If such a thing had happened, it would be covered by many news organisations. Also, the videos circulating under Maris Ellington’s name are reusing real footage from separate orca incidents. And one of the widely shared clips included scenes from the 2010 attack on a SeaWorld trainer.
Jessica Radcliffe’s orca attack is also fake! Here’s what we know
Recently, a video claimed that a 23-year-old marine trainer, Jessica Radcliffe, was killed by an orca. The video which looked all realistic is AI-generated. Yes, a closer look at the video shows that the attack never happened. Neither Jessica Radcliffe nor Pacific Blue Marine Park exists in the world. According to facts, there are no credible news reports on the same. On top of it, there are no obituaries, no workplace safety investigations or official statements from any marine park about such an incident.
