Aamir Khan’s family issued a statement on August 10 addressing the recent allegations by his brother, Faissal Khan, describing them as ‘hurtful and misleading.’ Their strained relationship resurfaces in the public eye after Faissal accuses Aamir and other family members of confining and mistreating him.

In the statement, the family defended their actions as decisions made out of care and concern for Faissal’s well-being, urging the media to respect their privacy amid ongoing personal disputes.

“We are distressed by Faissal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions and reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” the statement read.

“It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family,” the statement added.

Towards the end, the family members requested for empathy and privacy at this private hour.

The statement was signed by a large number of family members, including Reena Datta, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, Farhat Datta, Rajiv Datta, Kiran Rao, Santosh Hegde, Seher Hegde, Mansoor Khan, Nuzhat Khan, Imran Khan, Tina Fonseca, Zayn Marie Khan, and Pablo Khan.

Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Faissal Khan claimed that his family branded him as schizophrenic, labelling him ‘a mad person’ and a potential danger to society. He further alleged that his brother Aamir once kept him confined in his Mumbai home for over a year.

Faissal described that time as a period of feeling trapped, stating that his family repeatedly insisted he had schizophrenia and posed a risk to others. Calling it a “chakravyuh” (maze), he said he felt stuck, with the entire family allegedly turning against him and considering him mentally unstable.
