NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday launched a sharp counter to Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s allegations on Operation Sindoor, accusing him of echoing a “Pakistani narrative” and “berating” the armed forces.Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju said in a post on X, “There’s a limit to lying as well! Now the people of India themselves will tell Mr Rahul Gandhi that enough is enough.”The criticism followed remarks from the Air Force Chief, who credited the “political will” of the Central government for the success of Operation Sindoor and dismissed suggestions of restrictions on the armed forces. Also read: IAF chief says India shot down 6 Pakistani aircraft during Operation Sindoor“A key reason for success was the presence of political will. There was very clear political will and very clear directions given to us. No restrictions were put on us… If there were any constraints, they were self-made. The forces decided what the rules of engagement would be. We decided how we wanted to control the escalation. We had full freedom to plan and execute,” Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said in Bengaluru. In an earlier post, Rijiju had urged the Congress leader to “maintain the decorum of India’s Parliament,” adding, “Why do you keep lying all the time? I have witnessed many Leaders of Opposition who had maintained Parliamentary standards. You have not only lowered your stature but damaged India’s high reputation!”BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya also weighed in, saying, “India does not deserve a reckless, self-loathing man as Leader of Opposition. It is a pity that Rahul Gandhi, frothing with bile, chose the floor of Parliament to echo Pakistan’s narrative — a narrative now comprehensively demolished after both Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi confirmed the free hand given to our Armed Forces during #OperationSindoor. Rahul Gandhi embodies everything India does not need. People like him add nothing of value to public life. As for him in particular — history’s footnotes won’t even bother to mention his name.”Both Rijiju and Malviya shared a video of the IAF chief’s remarks, saying it debunked Gandhi’s allegations. The IAF chief’s comments directly contradicted Rahul Gandhi’s claims in Parliament during the Monsoon Session, where the Congress leader alleged that the government had “tied the hands” of Indian pilots by forbidding them from attacking Pakistani air defence systems. Gandhi also claimed that constraints from the political leadership had led to the loss of aircraft.Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a retaliatory strike after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack killed 26 people. The coordinated operation by the Army, Navy, and Air Force targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
