Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty appeared for a special episode of Kapil Sharma’s show, The Great Indian Kapil Show Season 3, streaming on Netflix. The sister duo were a part of a Raksha Bandhan episode, and shared funny anecdotes from their lives together on the superhit show. They were also joined by Huma Qureshi and her brother, Saqib Saleem.
Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty revealed their mother used to hit them with ‘chappal and jhadu‘
As Indian children growing up in the ’90s, we can all relate to getting hit by our parents for being naughty. And Shilpa Shetty and her sister, Shamita Shetty’s childhood was also no different. During one of the candid conversations, Shilpa recalled her childhood and revealed that their mother, Sunanda Shetty, was extremely strict and would beat them with a chappal and a jhadu. She said:
“Our mom didn’t spare us at all. She used to hit us with chappal and jhadu when we were kids.”
The entire audience laughed at this revelation. Shilpa, trying to control her laughter, stated that her strictness and her no-nonsense attitude helped shape them. She accepted that her parenting technique disciplined her and her sister, Shamita.
“She’s very strict, and honestly, it’s because of her that we have the values we do today.”
Shilpa accepted that she is finding a dulha for her sister, Shamita
During one segment, Shilpa Shetty showed off her matchmaking skills and revealed how determined she is to find a ‘dulha‘ for her sister. Shilpa added that she doesn’t shy away from asking a person if he is married or not. She laughed that the person might think why she is asking such a question, but she clarified that she is looking for a match for her sister. She said:
“Main toh besharam bhi hoon, main toh saamne se pooch bhi leti hoon, ‘tumhari shaadi ho gayi hai?’ Woh sochta hoga ki ‘tumhari toh shaadi ho gayi hai, yeh mujhse abhi ye sawaal kyun kar rahi hai?’ phir main bolti hoon, ‘nahin nahin mere liye nahin, meri choti behen ke liye!’ Actually, main impress bohot jaldi ho jaati hoon isiliye!”
