Raksha Bandhan is a time for siblings to leave all the bitterness aside and celebrate love, memories and nostalgia. But everything did not seem good with the Babbar family. Their Rakhi celebration carried a bittersweet note. Popular actress, Juhi Soni Babbar, who is the daughter of actor, Raj Babbar, shared some warm and heartfelt pictures from her Rakhi celebration, but one face was clearly missing, which was her half-brother, Prateik Babbar.
Juhi Babbar pens an emotional note for her half-brother, Prateik Babbar
Since August 9, 2025, the social media is filled with fun celebration pictures of Bollywood celebrities. Amid that, actress, Juhi Soni Babbar shared the celebration pictures with a heartfelt and sad caption, through which she acknowledged the void that she was feeling. She shared a series of images on her Instagram handle, but those photos missed her half-brother, Prateik Babbar. Her caption said:
“Some celebrations are full…and some feel incomplete. Today is Raksha Bandhan, and while the joy is here, a part of my heart is still missing. But life goes on…and Nothing can change the bond of blood. True blood remains, always.”
Juhi Soni Babbar and Prateik Babbar’s half-sibling relationship
Prateik Babbar is the son of actor, Raj Babbar and the late actress, Smita Patil. Before Smita, Raj was married to Nadira Babbar, with whom he has two children, Juhi and Arya. Even though, Prateik has often been captured with his half-siblings, his relationship with them has always been under the radar of media attention. Prateik and Juhi were last together in April 2025, when Juhi shared an image of her, Prateik and Arya on her Instagram. She captioned that image as:
“Raj Babbar Ji Ke Teeno Bacche..Juhi Aarya Prateik… A fact nobody can change.”
Why did Prateik drop Babbar from his name?
Earlier in 2025, actor, Prateik officially dropped ‘Babbar’ from his name and added his mother’s name to carry and honour her legacy. His official name now is Prateik Smita Patil. In an interview with the Times Of India, the Chhichhore actor shared that he wants to be associated with his mother. He does not want any other name to taint her legacy. He also mentioned that he wants to be like his mother and not his father. In his words:
“I need to be wholly and solely associated with my mother (Smita Patil), her name and her legacy. I don’t think any other name needs to taint that legacy, if you understand what I mean. It needs to just be her name and her legacy. That’s what I’m striving to be. I’m striving to be like my mother and not like my dad. It feels like a new chapter.”
