It’s that old cautionary tale: the lovable girl next door hits the big time and forgets her hometown roots, swept away by the Hollywood high life. Out go the T-shirts and shorts, in come the Louboutin stilettos and Hervé Léger bandage dresses. Thankfully, no such fate has befallen Jennifer Aniston, despite her decades in the spotlight (and on hairstylists’ inspiration boards).
This week, she was spotted sporting the low-key summer uniform of every New Yorker looking to navigate sweaty temperatures with style this season, including a tried-and-tested Aniston favorite: the classic skinny-strap flip-flop. Still revered as a poster girl of ’90s street style, a single snap of Jennifer Aniston’s throwback wardrobe is all it takes to have us dreaming about the era of red cargos and chunky highlights. And, as British Vogue’s Riann Phillip highlighted earlier this year, the star’s 2004 wardrobe is really all the inspiration you need for summer 2025.

Decades on—demonstrating that, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it—Aniston is still in her uniform of oversized summer basics, having swapped her cargo pants for a relaxed midi-skirt and added a Bottega bag for good measure. While a certain “more is more” attitude seems to have taken hold among many A-list holidaymakers this year, anyone indulging in more down to earth summer should take a leaf out of Jen’s book, and keep it casual.
