    Released 29 years ago, the film marked the debut of a filmmaker who would go on to shape modern Indian cinema. Khamoshi: The Musical is still remembered for its emotional depth, music, and strong performances. To mark the anniversary, Bhansali Productions shared a nostalgic Instagram post, revisiting the charm of the musical drama.

    Celebrating the film’s anniversary, the production house wrote, “29 years of a story that found its voice in music and its love in silence. Khamoshi: The Musical isn’t just a film, it’s a memory we carry. #29YearsOfKhamoshiTheMusical.

    Khamoshi: The Musical follows the story of Annie (Manisha Koirala), the daughter of deaf and mute parents, who is caught between her love for music and her responsibility towards her family. Her relationship with Raj (Salman Khan), who supports her passion, faces challenges when her parents disapprove, and a tragic incident forces her to make a difficult choice between love, dreams, and duty.

    Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut directorial was a massive hit and even indirectly. From his very first film to his global hit series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, SLB has showcased storytelling of truly international calibre.

    There is already anticipation for Bhansali’s upcoming film Love & War, which will bring together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. The film is scheduled to release on March 20, 2026.
