Two people died and one was left critically injured following a shooting, explosion, and fire at a home in western Iowa. The incident occurred Wednesday night in Glenwood, a town of about 5,000 residents located approximately 150 miles southwest of Des Moines. Local dispatchers received reports of a shooting at a residence, prompting a police response.“At least two people were shot in the home,” Glenwood police chief Eric Johansen said during a news conference Wednesday night. “An explosion shortly after the shootings led to a raging fire.”A person of interest connected to both the shooting and the fire has been taken into custody, Johansen confirmed. However, he did not specify whether the person arrested was also the one critically injured.“This has been determined to be an isolated incident and there is no further threat to the community,” Johansen said, as quoted by AP.Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved. A spokesperson for the Iowa division of criminal investigation did not immediately return messages on Thursday.Johansen also noted that law enforcement had previously been called to the same residence, though he did not provide details on the nature of those calls.
