Actor, KayKay Menon has been winning hearts online for his powerful performance in the web series, Special Ops 2, which was released on July 18, 2025, on JioHotstar. After 2 weeks, the show is making headlines because of a viral fan theory, which says that the show indirectly referred to a real-life incident from 2018. Even though, KayKay Menon’s character denies any such case, fans have found similarities. Read on to know the real facts behind this case.
What happens in the show, Special Ops 2?
In the web series, Special Ops 2, KayKay Menon plays the character of ‘Himmat Singh’, who is seen talking to officials about a secret mission in one of the episodes. During the serious conversation, a defense minister asks him if a similar mission could be done again, like the one “in Goa for the Dubai case”. To this, ‘Himmat Singh’ becomes a little more serious and instantly replies with:
“We didn’t do it, sir.”
This small line didn’t go unnoticed. A lot of fans went deep into this and a few found that allegedly, there is a case of the Dubai princess, who tried to escape, but was caught in Goa in 2018. Even though, the web show doesn’t name the case, nor does it confirm the existence of any such case, the connection seems to be very clear.
What had happened with Princess Latifa of Dubai?
Princess Latifa is the daughter of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Recently, an Instagram user, Shaayan Bhattacharya shared the backstory of this case on his handle. He mentioned that in 2018, allegedly, the Princess tried to escape from Dubai because she didn’t have enough freedom there.

She left on a US flagged yacht with few of her friends and one French intelligence officer, who was helping her escape. But, around 30-50 miles off the coast of Goa, Indian forces stopped the boat. According to a few reports from International media, Indian officers questioned who Princess Latifa was and when she identified herself, she was returned back to Dubai.
Why did India get involved in this alleged case?
Officially, India has never confirmed any involvement in this mission, even the Indian Coast Guard denied any role and since then there has not been any proof or confirmation from the Indian government. However, reports suggest that this could have been a part of a deal between India and UAE.
Around the same time, India was trying hard to get a British man, Christian Michel, who was accused in the AgustaWestland helicopter scam. He was later deported from UAE to India and some believe that India helping Dubai in returning the Princess might have helped India in getting Christian, who is now in Indian jail.
