Brandon Blackstock, who lived most of his life away from the spotlight despite being connected to two big names in the music industry, has passed away at the age of 48. He was known for his strong business mindset, connections in the music industry, and his marriage to his former ex-wife and singer, Kelly Clarkson of The Kelly Clarkson Show. He was the father of four children, Savannah, Seth, River, and Remington, who maintained a private life.

Brandon Blackstock fought a long and quiet battle with cancer

A spokesperson from his family confirmed Brandon Blackstock’s death and revealed that the talent manager was bravely fighting cancer for more than three years. However, he couldn’t win over the illness and passed away peacefully in the presence of his family and loved ones. The representative expressed gratitude to all the well-wishers and asked for privacy for Brandon’s family in the testing times. Official statement from the family read:

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family.”

Though Brandon kept the news about his illness away from the public spotlight, he was privately fighting the disease to ensure that he could be present for his four children, Savannah, Seth, River, and Remington. His eldest daughter, Savannah, made him a grandfather in 2022, and he thoroughly enjoyed the role in his life. Brandon Blackstock was last seen publicly in March 2024, smiling along with his two youngest children, River and Remington, as they celebrated a family day at the Houston Rodeo with his brother, Shelby, and former stepmother, Reba McEntire.

Kelly Clarkson had postponed her Las Vegas residency to focus on her kids and Brandon

Before the news about Brandon Blackstock’s demise made headlines, his ex-wife, Kelly Clarkson, had mentioned his fragile health a couple of days ago. The singer, who is the mother of River and Remington, had announced that she was postponing her “Studio Session” concerts in Las Vegas in August 2025 to support her family and prioritise their needs. Taking to her Instagram, she penned:

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

Brandon Blackstock and Kelly Clarkson’s love story

Brandon Blackstock and Kelly Clarkson’s love story began in 2006 during a rehearsal for the Academy of Country Music Awards. The singer once recalled how she saw him making everybody laugh and thought she would “end up with him”. They reconnected years later at a Super Bowl event and tied the knot in 2013. A few of Kelly’s heartfelt songs, like Piece by Piece were inspired by how Brandson healed her childhood wounds with his love. At the same time, the latter was also her manager for multiple years. However, the duo parted ways after Kelly filed for divorce in 2020, which was finalized in 2022.
