After the amazing success of its first season, Netflix’s Wednesday is back with another season that is darker, bolder and even more twisted. The new season released on August 6, 2025, and within hours, it has managed to grab attention from several people because of its dark humour, engaging storyline and powerful performance by Jenna Ortega.
Jenna Ortega returns as ‘Addams’ in Wednesday Season 2
The new season of the popular series, Wednesday kicked off with a bang as actress, Jenna Ortega returned as ‘Addams’ to the well known ‘Nevermore Academy’. This time, ‘Addams’ was no more just a student, she had become a celebrity after solving a major mystery in Season 1, and her popularity attracted a lot of attention from friends as well as foes.
‘Addams’ is once again sharing her room with her best friend, ‘Enid Sinclair’ (played by Emma Myers). But, this time again, school life doesn’t seem to be normal, ‘Addams’ starts getting strange visions again, and one of them is something as scary as ‘Enid’s death.
Expanded family drama in Wednesday Season 2
The new season of Wednesday features the expanded family of ‘Addams’. ‘Wednesday’s brother, ‘Pugsley’ (played by Issac Ordonez) joins the Nevermore Academy as a fresher, which brings a sweet and fun sibling drama in the entire thriller series. The series also features ‘Morticia Addams’ (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones), who is ‘Wednesday’s mother and now is seen getting involved in the school’s operations.
Another major addition that adds depth to the entire season is the character of ‘Gradmama’ (played by Joanna Lumley), who introduces a backstory involving ‘Wednesday’s Aunt, ‘Ophelia’. The family drama and rising tension is one of the biggest strengths of the new season. Apart from the family drama, there are a few more fresh faces like Steve Buscemi, who plays ‘Principal Barry Dort’, Billie Piper as the mysterious music teacher, ‘Isadora Capri’ and more. Every new face adds more drama and thrill to the series.
Wednesday Season 2 focuses more on supernatural horror
The showrunner of Wednesday, clearly took fan feedback very seriously while making Season 2. With season 1, audiences felt that the series should have focused more on horror, depth and thriller rather than teen drama and Season 2 promises more blood, higher emotional stakes and deeper character arcs, along with the humour. Tim Burton, who co-directed the Part 1, brought back his signature Gothic flair. The dark humour, amazing visuals and animated sequences, all feel like his classic style, keeping the tension high.
Makers release only four episodes of Wednesday Season 2 Part 1
The makers of the show, Wednesday released it in an interesting manner that is surprising the audience. Instead of releasing the entire season in one go, the makers decided to launch it in two parts. Part 1, released on August 6, 2025, has only four episodes and the remaining episodes will premiere in September 2025. This way the creators have built suspense and will keep fans talking about the series for long. This also lets the audience analyse the show and predict what might happen in Part 2.
