Vir Das had an interesting conversation with Mayank Shekhar of Mid-Day where he spoke about many aspects, including his Bollywood career. At one point, he opened up about his bond with Imran Khan and his experience of working with him in Delhi Belly (2011).

Vir Das calls Imran Khan “NICEST guy to ever go through the Hindi film industry”; remarks, “For Delhi Belly, he had a black eye and was drenched in cement and f**ker still looked good”

Vir Das said, “Imran and I are still in touch. I still maintain that he’s probably the nicest guy to ever go through the Hindi film industry. He’s just the sort of good guy. He’s doing a movie right now, which I think is his ‘comeback’ project. Also, the romcom genre also died and it was resurrected only recently. But the romcom went away for a good 10 years. And Imran was our Hugh Grant and our Ryan Gosling, the funny, quirky, romcom guy (smiles). So, I am looking forward to him coming back with something interesting.”

Vir continued, “He’s a ridiculously and unreasonably good-looking man. You put the camera on anywhere for that guy and he would look good. It’s very annoying to be in a vanity van with him. For Delhi Belly, he had a black eye and was drenched in cement and f**ker still looked good! I cannot explain to you how demoralizing it was during Delhi Belly.”

Vir Das revealed, “Imran, me and Kunaal Roy Kapur shared a van as it was a tiny budget movie. Imran’s Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) had just been released. So, every time the van door opened, we would see 3000 girls standing outside screaming Imran’s name. Then I would come out. I would be bald and covered in cement and their excitement would die down. A couple of them would say, ‘Yeh villain hoga’! What a stab to the heart that was! Meanwhile, he comes with a black guy and still looks good, ya. So, it was depressing to be in a van with that guy.”
