Popular actor, Varun Badola, who plays the on screen father of Ahaan Panday’s character in the blockbuster film, Saiyaara, has recently made a concerning statement about the film’s promotional method. Varun’s recent statement contradicts what the director, Mohit Suri has said about paid theatre videos. Here’s what Varun Badola said.
Varun Badola feels that the promotional team crossed a line
Recently, the director of Saiyaara, Mohit Suri gave an interview to Zoom, in which he mentioned that the viral theatre videos were completely genuine and not planned by him. But, in an interview with Screen, Varun completely contradicted Mohit Suri’s claim and said that the promotional team went a little overboard with the viral reels. He said:
“I think the promotions team went a little overboard there, where people are going to see the film, putting IV drips. Those people must have been told to give content in some way; thank god, people didn’t get their legs broken and went crawling to see the film. It’s okay. We understand promoting the movie, but it’s good only up to a certain level. However, the movie cannot earn so much money just based on Instagram promotions. People have gone and seen the film, and they have loved it.”
Varun Badola didn’t expect the film, Saiyaara to earn so much
In the same interview, Varun candidly mentioned that nobody was expecting Saiyaara to work so well. He shared that everyone assumed that the film would be able to earn just as much as the production cost, but by the third-fourth day, everyone knew that the film had done something big at the box office. The actor also made a surprising statement that he himself hasn’t seen the film till now. While appreciating the success, he said:
“By the third or fourth day, the film was being talked about. I saw the euphoria on Instagram. Log jo chudiyaan tod rahe hai, chaatiyaan peet rahe hai.”
