Morocco, set to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal, has faced international backlash after revealing plans to kill up to 3 million stray dogs. According to CNN Sports, animal welfare organizations stated that the mass killings are part of an effort to “clean up” the streets of Morocco. This move, aimed at enhancing the country’s appeal to tourists ahead of the major sporting event, has drawn sharp criticism from numerous animal rights groups and activists.

Now, actress Janhvi Kapoor, recognized for her love of animals, has spoken out against the authorities’ decision to kill the stray dogs. Taking to Instagram, the actress posted on her story to voice her disappointment. She wrote, “This can’t be real. There are ways to address the rehabilitation of stray animals. ‘Cleaning up’ by killing all of them? Criminals.”
As reported earlier by The Daily Mail, Moroccan authorities have been employing brutal methods to manage the growing stray dog population. These include poisoning dogs with highly toxic strychnine, shooting them in public areas, and allegedly beating the survivors to death with shovels. These inhumane practices have triggered widespread outrage from animal rights organizations globally, who are calling for urgent intervention. However, an official response from FIFA is still pending.
Returning to Janhvi Kapoor, the actress is currently preparing for the release of her upcoming romantic drama, Param Sundari, which is set to premiere in theatres on August 20. Directed by Tushar Jalota and produced by Maddock Films, the film stars Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role alongside Janhvi, marking their first on-screen collaboration.
The story centers on a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl who fall in love despite their cultural differences. Set against the scenic backdrop of Kerala’s backwaters, the film promises a heartfelt cross-cultural romance, delving into the emotional challenges that arise from their contrasting backgrounds.
In addition to Param Sundari, Janhvi also has another romantic drama lined up—Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumar—in which she stars opposite Varun Dhawan.
