A man was critically injured after unknown men on a motorcycle opened fire at him in Delhi’s Dwarka on Monday evening. The incident took place around 6:23 pm in the Mohan Garden area of Dwarka.
The injured man was identified as 28-year-old Mohit, a resident of Kabulpur Ghitoli village in Haryana’s Rohtak district.
Police received information from Tarak Hospital about a man with a gunshot injury.
According to police, three men on a motorcycle fired at Mohit. Due to heavy traffic, the attackers abandoned their motorcycle while fleeing.
“During enquiry it transpired that Mohit, resident of Kabulpur Ghitoli in Rohtak, aged 28 years, was shot by 03 bike persons who then ran away but owing to heavy traffic, they left their motorcycle behind,” the police said in a statement.
The injured man was first taken to a local hospital and later shifted to the Trauma Centre at AIIMS for further treatment.
Police confirmed that the victim has a criminal background, with two serious cases registered against him, including one for murder.
Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from the area. A case has been registered, and multiple teams have been formed to identify and locate the attackers. The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident earlier this year, a property dealer, Rajkumar Dalal, was shot dead in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar while sitting in his car. Police said 8 to 10 shots were fired, many from the front of the vehicle.
The attackers fled immediately after the shooting. Preliminary investigation suggests the attackers may have been on a bike or scooter and could have followed Dalal before ambushing him.
Police have registered a case of murder. No arrests have been made so far. Investigators are looking into possible motives, including rivalry, financial dispute, or personal enmity.
