A woman and her two daughters were found dead at their home in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district late Saturday night. According to police, the three were attacked with a blunt object, with injuries found on their heads.
Police identified the victims as Mulpurti Madhuri (26) and her 8-year-old and 6-year-old daughters, residents of Seetharam Colony in Samarlakota.
The incident was discovered early Sunday morning when Madhuri’s husband, Dhan Prasad, returned home after working a night shift as a driver at a private company in the Samarlakota Industrial Area.
Police said the front door was locked from inside, so the husband entered the house by climbing over the back wall and found the bodies lying in the pool of blood inside the house.
The bodies were sent to the Government Hospital in Peddapuram for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, officers from Samarlakota police station and the Peddapuram DSP visited the location and began an investigation. A clues team was sent to collect forensic evidence.
The police also informed that the mobile phones belonging to the victims were missing from the scene. Investigators have not ruled out the possibility of insider involvement.
Police have taken Dhan Prasad into custody for questioning, after some local residents raised doubts about his version of events.
District Superintendent of Police Bindu Madhav inspected the scene and said that the investigation would consider all possible angles.
