Madhan Bob, a celebrated Tamil actor, bid farewell to the world at the age of 71. An insider has claimed that he breathed his last at his home, due to health-related issues. Later, the report was confirmed by Madhan’s son. For the unversed, a report by NDTV stated that Madhan was battling with cancer in the last phase of life. While nothing much about his health condition was known, reports claimed that his health had deteriorated over time, even with medical support. Madhan’s struggle with cancer was away from the public light, and he was reportedly spending his last days in his family home, surrounded by his close ones.

Madhan Bob, who was the eighth child in his family, gave the entertainment world numerous movies. And his passing surely left a hollow in the hearts of his fans and within the industry. The insider first claimed that the actor, who was 71 years old, breathed his last at his residence, Adyer, Chennai, on August 2, 2025. Later, his son reportedly confirmed the same.
The exact reason for Madhan’s demise is yet to be disclosed, along with his family’s statement on the same. However, as per the information available in the public domain, the actor has had a tough battle with cancer in the last phase of his life. Information about his funeral and last rites is yet to be disclosed by the family.
Professional and personal lives of Madhan Bob
Madhan Bob was known in the industry for his comic timing, expressions, mannerism and acting performances. Over the years, he had acted in more than 600 films, spanning genres, but mostly Tamil films. He was known for his supporting roles in the movies, and his comic timings were delivered so perfectly that he instantly became a household name. Madhan made his debut in 1992 with the film, Vaaname Ellai. Some of his most notable works include Thenali, Friends, Chandramukhi, Suyamvaram, Sathi Leelavathi, and Ethir Neechal, among many others. He was also seen in Hindi films, such as Chachi 420, Telugu films like Bangaram, and Malayalam movies like Bhramaram and Celluloid.
Even though Madhan Bob was a celebrated Tamil actor, he began his career as a musician. He initially worked as a music teacher and a pianist, and he was one of the gurus to A.R. Rahman. In several of his interviews, Rahman credited him as his early teacher, while Madhan Bob joked about the music maestro playing keyboard in his troupe. Following his music career, he was noticed by K. Balachander, who mentored him and gave him a chance in the movie, Vaaname Ellai. The rest remained history as Madhan carved a niche for himself and established himself as one of the much-loved comedians in the Tamil film industry.
Talking about his personal life, he was married to Susheela, who occasionally performed with him, as she was musically inclined to him. The couple has two children, a son, Archith, and a daughter, Janani. Both of Madhan’s kids are fond of music, despite reportedly holding an MBA degree.
