Meryl Streep climbed the steps of the American Museum of Natural History in crimson satin platforms on Friday while filming “The Devil Wears Prada 2” in New York City. The shoes vanished under a full-length gown later that day — but not before setting the tone.

The silhouette was all surface and structure: rounded peep toe, scooped vamp and a sharply pitched stiletto anchored by a sculpted platform. A camel trench and navy gingham button-down layered over the look, styled just enough to suggest Miranda in motion, even if it was just for Streep to practice walking in the towering heels. The silhouette echoed early 2010s Giuseppe Zanotti and Brian Atwood evening heels — heavy with satin, sculptural in proportion and unapologetically theatrical.

Later, Streep returned to shoot the same scene in a structured scarlet gown with a full gathered skirt and off-the-shoulder neckline. The skirt of the dress covered her shoes, but she was presumably wearing the red peep-toes she rehearsed in earlier.

The day capped off a week of closely observed styling on the Manhattan set. Earlier, Hathaway filmed in handwoven leather pumps by Andres with a low gold heel — a silhouette that collapsed slightly under motion. She wore them with a pleated olive skirt, rolled white button-down and layered gold jewelry.
Streep, in a separate scene, wore squared-off gray pumps with a mirrored interior, styled into a monochrome look built from cropped trousers, a matching jacket and matte sunglasses.
Filming for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” continues this week across New York, with returning cast members Streep, Hathaway and Emily Blunt joined by Lucy Liu, Simone Ashley and Justin Theroux. Patricia Field has returned as the costume designer for the sequel, which is slated for release in May 2026.
