A 26-year-old student studying at IIT Bombay died by suicide after jumping off the hostel building late Friday night.

The victim, Rohit Sinha from Delhi, was a fourth-year Meta Science student at the institute. The incident reportedly occurred around 2:30 am.

According to Mumbai Police, “The student jumped off the terrace of the hostel building. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.”

The police further added, “Another student who stays in the hostel was on a call on the terrace when Rohit jumped.”

An Accidental Death Report has been registered at the police station. The police are currently investigating the reasons behind the suicide.
