Tara Sutaria recently made a rare and emotionally revealing appearance on The Ranveer Show, opening up about her life, personal struggles, and her perspective on the highs and lows of working in the film industry. Known for her grace and talent, Tara took fans and listeners into her private world, reflecting on both professional challenges and deeply personal experiences—including a period of emotional numbness that followed a difficult phase in her life.

The actress, whose last project was the OTT release Apurva in 2023, has been relatively absent from the big screen. Despite her potential, she admitted that projects haven’t been coming her way as frequently. Still, Tara’s reflections weren’t marked by bitterness, but rather by a sense of inner strength and self-awareness that she’s cultivated over the last decade.
Without naming names, Tara subtly alluded to the emotional aftermath of her breakup with former partner Aadar Jain—who married Alekha Advani earlier this year. She didn’t shy away from acknowledging the pain. “I think maybe for a year or year and a half, that’s certainly how I felt. I’ll give myself credit for this—I am good at picking myself up and figuring it out,” she shared. “It’s a very unforgiving place and a very isolating place, so you have to do a lot of figuring out for yourself, because nobody else does it for you.”
Tara described those months as a time when she momentarily lost her emotional compass. “For a little while there, I don’t think that I knew what was going on with myself,” she admitted. But what followed was a period of introspection and healing that she now views as transformative. “I gave myself the time and the space to figure it out, and that’s exactly what happened. Today I feel like my most whole self—my best self.”
When asked to revisit her lowest point related to her career, Tara’s response was both grounded and refreshingly mature. “I’ll be honest with you—that doesn’t bother me,” she said firmly. “Career stuff doesn’t bother me because I always say this line: it’s what I do, it’s not who I am. So why should I let that define my mental space?”
She went on to critique the work-obsessed culture in the entertainment industry and beyond, pointing to the disproportionate stress many attach to career success. “Look at what’s happening in the world. I know people in their 20s who are dying of heart attacks. Why am I sitting and stressing about a film that didn’t work out? It’s insane to me. Focus on who you are. What you do will not matter as much.”
Calling herself someone who deeply values her personal peace and “me time,” Tara said she refuses to let a missed opportunity derail her sense of self. “I value my life way too much… to worry about a film that’s not working. Move on. That’s how I look at it.”
