In the third episode of ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ reboot, the celebrations wind down and the drama begins.
Tulsi assures her daughter, Pari, that she will speak to Mihir about her choice of partner. However, Gayatri Kaki interrupts and taunts Tulsi, hinting that something is wrong in Pari’s life. While the party continues, Mihir remains adamant about introducing Pari to the son of his friend. Tulsi manages to salvage the situation.
The entire family poses for a group photo, and Tulsi and Mihir perform the varmala ceremony. Gayatri continues to sulk in the background. Mihir’s sweet gesture during the ceremony wins everyone’s heart.
“Mera khwab mere saamne khada hai, jaise 48 saal pehle khada tha,” he tells Tulsi, as the family cheers. Angad persuades Mihir to dedicate a few words to Tulsi. Mihir complies, serenading her with a song from ‘Yaarana’, impressing everyone with his heartfelt performance.
The celebrations continue as other couples join in the dancing. But Tulsi remains worried about Pari. Soon, Nandini, Karan, Shobha, and Hemant leave for their respective homes in other cities. Tulsi sends them off with traditional gifts for her grandchildren. An emotional Tulsi holds back her tears as the children leave Shanti Niketan – but the matter with Pari remains unresolved.
Tulsi finally addresses the elephant in the room and tells Mihir that Pari is in love with someone else. Instead of empathising, Mohit lashes out.
“Tum kaunsi Pari ki baat kar rahi ho?” he demands.
Mihir loses his temper and berates Tulsi for not knowing what was going on in Pari’s life.
“Tum Maa ho uski. Pure din ghar me karti kya ho?” he shouts.
Tulsi tries to calm him down, but Mihir gets increasingly agitated, warning her about how young men today take advantage of girls from influential families. He storms off to speak to Pari, despite Tulsi warning him to approach the conversation carefully.
However, Mihir softens the moment he sees Pari. He tells her how much he loves her and expresses a desire to meet the man she’s chosen. Pari breaks down and promises she would never do anything to hurt him.
Tulsi watches silently as father and daughter share an emotional moment.
Later, Mihir returns to Tulsi and apologises for belittling her earlier. Tulsi looks at herself in the mirror and opens up about her insecurities – her weight, her wrinkles, how she looks older than Mihir.
But, Mihir doesn’t buy any of it. He tells her: “Thodi moti toh ho gayi ho, mujhse badi bhi dikhti ho, Thod jhuriya bhi aa gayi hai aur kapde bhi fit nahi a rahe. Par ek baat hai: ye jhuriya tumhari nahi hai, ye meri haathon ki lakerein hai jo tumhari jhuriya ban gayi hai. Naseeb chamkta hai mera in jhuriyon me. Ye bazu jo sabko mote lagte hai na unko ye nahi pata ki in bazuon pe pura Shanti Niketan utha rakha hai tumne.“
Tulsi remains unconvinced, but Mihir explains how society constantly tells women they must maintain their appearance, forgetting how much they help maintain a household. Everyone depends on that woman, he says.
He reminds Tulsi of the toll a woman’s body takes after childbirth and how women often live for others’ well-being. For him, he says, she remains the most beautiful woman in the world.
But just as emotions settle, a storm hits the next morning.
A group of policemen enters the Virani mansion looking for Angad. Panic spreads through the family, and Tulsi is especially distraught.
They take Angad away. In the promo for the next episode, Tulsi is seen slapping Angad after he’s accused of a crime. Hemant returns to support the family.
