The world is mourning the loss of the legendary Godfather of Heavy Metal, Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away on July 22, 2025, just two weeks after his final live performance. The iconic Black Sabbath frontman leaves behind not only a lasting musical legacy but also a grieving family. Following his death, many fans have turned their attention beyond the spotlight on his wife, Sharon, and their children, Aimee, Jack, and Kelly. On July 30, 2025, the family united under Birmingham’s Black Sabbath Bridge to bid him a final farewell.

Out of the familiar faces in the crowd, which also included the family’s lesser-known daughter, Aimee, the cameras couldn’t find two out of six Osbourne siblings: Jessica Osbourne and Elliot Kingsley. Their absence from Ozzy’s funeral procession has reignited fans’ attention towards the legendary singer’s first and lesser-known family before Sharon.

As the world looks beyond Ozzy Osbourne’s highly public persona, here’s all we know about the late Sabbath frontman’s oldest children and why two of them were missing from his final goodbye. 

Ozzy Osbourne’s first family: Thelma Riley and their three children

Ozzy Osbourne married his long-time manager, Sharon, in 1982. But before Sharon, there was Thelma Riley, whom the rock legend married in 1971, and they spent 11 years as a betrothed couple. Thelma had her son, Elliot Kingsley, born in 1966, from a previous relationship, whom Ozzy adopted. Later, he and Thelma went on to have two biological children together, Jessica Osbourne (1972) and Louis Osbourne (1975).

While the marriage had a happy beginning, it gradually fell apart, given Ozzy’s substance abuse, infidelity, and the pressures of fame. In his 2010 memoir, I Am Ozzy, the metal legend referred to his and Thelma’s union as ‘a terrible mistake,’ openly admitting that he had been absent for much of Elliot, Jessica, and Louis’s growing years.

Elliot Kingsley, the forgotten son

While most of Ozzy’s children have appeared in the public eye at some point, the most elusive remains Elliot Kingsley, the son he adopted during his marriage to Thelma Riley. Born in 1966, Elliot has spent nearly his entire life out of the spotlight. Very little is known about his adult life, career, or his current relationship with the Osbourne family, aside from the fact that he is a singer and songwriter.

Elliot’s absence after Ozzy’s passing has gone largely unexplained; neither was his name included in the official family statement, nor did he attend the funeral procession in Birmingham. 

Who is Ozzy Osbourne’s first daughter, Jessica Osbourne?

Ozzy Osbourne’s eldest biological child is Jessica Osbourne, born in 1972 during his marriage to his first wife, Thelma Riley. Like his other daughter, Aimee, Jessica has also largely remained under the radar throughout her life. Despite being the daughter of a world-famous father, Jessica has never capitalised on the Osbourne name, even though she has worked as an actress and director in small independent projects.

In the 2011 documentary, God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, Jessica opened up about her estranged relationship with her father, talking about her ‘erratic’ childhood, as Ozzy had mostly remained absent from her life growing up. She was quoted as saying:

“My recollection from my childhood with dad is that he’d be away for very long periods of time, and there’d always be a period of adjustment when he came home, and then it’d get to normality, and then he’d go again. So, it was a very erratic childhood with dad.”

During an episode of The Osbournes reality show, Jessica had made a phone call to Ozzy to inform him that he had become a grandfather, leaving him elated. Today, the 53-year-old Jessica is reportedly a mother of three. After Ozzy’s passing, she shared a tribute to her late father, but her absence from the family’s official statement and later, his funeral procession, didn’t go unnoticed.

Louis Osbourne: Ozzy’s first son, who stayed close to the family

Compared to his other two siblings, Ozzy’s first son, Louis, has maintained a warm relationship with his dad and his half-siblings from Sharon. Now a renowned DJ and promoter in the UK, Louis is a father of three. He has spoken warmly about Ozzy in several interviews. In a 2015 interview at Birmingham Live, Louis fondly talked about his loving bond with his father. He said:

“Dad usually calls on a Sunday afternoon for a catch-up, and when he comes over to the UK, we take the kids down [to his home in Buckinghamshire]. Dad is great, very much a doting grandad.”

Louis was also present at Ozzy’s farewell concert, Back to the Beginning, held on July 5, 2025. His post on Facebook, as mentioned by the BBC, shows how deeply he loved and cared for the late rock icon, even worrying for months about Ozzy’s declining health before the concert. Louis wrote:

“I was sobbing at times. It was everything we wanted it to be and more… I had been anxious for months about this, as I’ve been worried about my dad’s ability to perform with his Parkinson’s disease… But as soon as he started singing, we knew he was gonna nail it.”

On July 30, 2025, Louis walked alongside his stepmother, Sharon, and siblings Jack, Kelly, and Aimee during Ozzy’s funeral procession. 

Elliot and Jessica not in touch with the Osbournes?

After Ozzy’s passing, his grieving family confirmed the news with an official statement signed by his wife, Sharon, and their children. However, fans quickly noticed that while Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis were mentioned, Jessica and Elliot were not. Their absence from both the statement and the family events has sparked speculation about possible unresolved tensions.
