Who Wants to Be a Millionaire is an American TV game show which was based on the format of the British program with the same title. The program features a quiz competition with contestants attempting to win a million US dollars. And the latest season of the show just had its second set of winners! However, the audience seems to be more intrigued by what the million-dollar question was.
What was the last question asked on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
After winning Jeopardy in 2020, Ken Jennings has once again proved that his trivia skills are unmatched. He won 74 consecutive games on the show, accumulating a winning of 4.3 million US dollars. The scholar won what was called the ‘Greatest of All Time Tournament’ and has now once again put his skills to the test with Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. Ken Jennings and Matt Damon appeared on the latest celebrity edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and the American show host proved his mettle.
While Ken Jennings did the heavy lifting during the show, he and Matt were able to reach a major milestone on the show. In the July 30, 2025 episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Ken and Matt were faced with the big question for 500,000 US dollars. The question for the grand amount was a tough one for both players as they spent several minutes contemplating their answer. The question was:
“With another career path already established, who got his first taste of the entertainment world when he entered a Steve Martin look-alike contest?”
Ken and Matt were given four options for the question: Dr. Oz, Jerry Springer, Bill Nye, and Anthony Bourdain. The duo opted to use a lifeline and asked Kimmel for assistance. Although Matt Damon wasn’t initially on board with the move because he said he didn’t trust Kimmel to help him out, he changed his mind when the host said he did, in fact, happen to be 100 per cent sure of the answer. The answer was Bill Nye, and with the help of Kimmel, the duo proceeded to the big million-dollar question.

Matt and Ken didn’t need much help with the big question, as the duo once again opted for a lifeline. They decided to use 50-50, which confirmed the hunch Ken had about the question. The question was:
“Which of these words is often used to describe one of the most beautiful auditory effects on Earth: the sound made by the leaves of trees when wind blows through them?”
Matt Damon and Ken Jennings were given four options for the million-dollar question, which included Apricity, Petrichor, Susurrus, and Eudaemonia. Ken trusted his gut and went with Susurrus as the answer. Pulling the weight of the entire trivia alone, did Ken get it right?
Did Ken Jennings and Matt Damon win the grand prize?
Ken Jennings was absolutely right about his hunch, and with that, Ken and Matt officially joined only chef David Chang, Ike and Alan Barinholtz as 1 million US dollar winners on the celebrity edition of the show. Overall, throughout their run, most of the questions were significantly easier than the trivia Jennings faced on Jeopardy!
