PinkPantheress cannot be contained. The English singer made her TV debut on The Tonight Show on Wednesday night (July 30) with a three-song medley of tracks from her recent Fancy That mixtape on a candy-colored set accompanied by a pair of dancers.
With all three women enclosed in square boxes lit up with red and blue neon lights, the 24-year-old vocalist kicked things off with the 141 BPM blazer “Illegal,” whisper-singing the come hither chorus “One after one, now you’re sittin’ on my bed/ Then, later one, we can talk on it instead.” After two more dancers joined the fray, the camera swung to a suit-wearing DJ, who worked his decks, scratching the record into the next groove as the singer struck a series of moves before sliding into the seductive “Girl Like Me.”
“I’m not a fan of the way we’re movin’/ No explanation for why we do this,” she cooed over the skittering beat, shaking her hips and smiling as she promised “Ah, ah, you’ll be alright.” The groove overtook them all as a full-on dance party broke out, with the DJ bopping around, matching the dancer’s vogue-like moves.
Packed into the same small space, all five women popped their hips until the beat switched up once again and PinkPantheress sashayed to center stage for the final song in the medley, “Tonight.” The dance party heated up, with Pantheress slinking over to the DJ booth to strike a series of poses before ending the set back in her neon square.
Fancy That, which dropped in May, was the follow-up to the singer’s debut 2023 LP, Heaven Knows. PinkPantheress will hit the road in North America this fall for the nine-show An Evening With PinkPantheress run, her first shows since she cancelled all her remaining 2024 dates last August to focus on her health.
