The newly-announced Australian festival Strummingbird has snared a pair of international headliners for its debut, with Jelly Roll and Shaboozey both confirmed to appear.
First teased earlier in the month, the nascent Strummingbird festival revealed that it would be making its debut in Australia across late October and early November, with three outings planned across Sunshine Coast, Newcastle and Perth.
Announcing its lineup on Thursday, July 31 (Australia time), the festival is led by the impressive blend of Jelly Roll and Shaboozey – both of whom are making their Australian debuts as part of the festival.
Both acts have received noted fame in the country in recent times. While Shaboozey’s ubiquitous 2024 single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” topped the Australian ARIA Singles charts last year, Jelly Roll debuted at No. 19 on the Albums charts in 2024 with his latest album, Beautifully Broken.
Their inclusion on the bill comes just months after the arrival of the collaborative single “Amen,” though no confirmation has been given as to whether the pair may perform the track together when in the country. No further Australian dates from the two acts have been announced currently.
The lineup continues as a blend of largely American and Australian names, with the likes of Texas’ Treaty Oak Revival, Illinois’ Drew Baldridge, Tennessee’s Julia Cole and Virginian quartet The Jack Wharff Band all crossing the ocean to appear on the bill.
Meanwhile, local representation is offered by the likes of James Johnston, Wade Forster, Kaylee Bell, Matt Hansen, The Dreggs, and others.
A slight vibe shift will also take place across the evening thanks to perennial festival favorite Hot Dub Time Machine, who will reportedly add a “country and rock-and-roll twist” to his DJ sets; and Y.O.G.A., which is the solo project of Reuben Styles of ARIA Award-winning duo Peking Duk.
Presented by Kicks Entertainment and Live Nation, Strummingbird is organized by the same team behind the Spilt Milk festival, which will tour the country in December with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Doechii and more on the lineup.
