He was the iconic face of WWE, and many grew up watching the oiled-up Florida man with a handlebar moustache and his signature bandanas. Hulk Hogan passed away due to acute myocardial infarction
According to the New York Post, Hulk Hogan, whose real name was Terrence Gene Bollea, died due to an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, on July 24, 2025. It is worth adding that, according to PEOPLE, who were able to obtain his medical records, he had a history of Leukemia. It is a common disorder that causes irregular heartbeats. Also, Hogan’s history of Leukemia was not known earlier.
Hulk Hogan’s death
As reported by TMZ Sports, Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71. The first call was made to 911 after suspecting a cardiac arrest at 9:51 a.m. The medical team tried to revive him for 30 minutes. Several police cars and EMTs were parked outside his Florida home, and the icon was reportedly being carried out on a stretcher into an ambulance. WWE confirmed Hogan’s passing with a statement, which can be read as:
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
It is worth mentioning that rumours of Hulk Hogan’s declining health started making rounds in June 2025. Some claimed that the WWE star had been hospitalised and was seriously ill. However, his representatives quashed the reports and asked his fans not to worry about his health. There were even claims that Hulk Hogan was on his deathbed.
Hulk Hogan’s close friend and former WWE booker, Eric Bischoff, revealed that Hogan was embarrassed by himself in the final days of his life. He didn’t want anyone to look at his condition. In a podcast, 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff, he shared:
“Hogan said, ‘I really want to see you, but I’m kind of embarrassed for you to see me this way because I’ve been pretty sick.”
However, Bischoff brushed off Hulk Hogan’s worries of not looking best in his last days. Talking about this last meeting, Bischoff further added that Hogan looked weak and had difficulty talking. They met for half an hours.

Hulk Hogan’s real name was Terry Eugene Bollea, and he was born on August 11, 1952, in Augusta, Georgia. He was instantly hailed for his appearances in the professional wrestling field during the 1980s and early 1990s. His trademark handlebar moustache, yellow bandana, made young boys imitate him, and they all acted like him by repeating his catchphrases, “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?” He was a prominent figure in WWE, a household name.
It is worth mentioning that he had headlined eight of the first nine WrestleManias, he was a six-time WWE champion, and starred in films, TV shows and commercials, which made him a famous celebrity. In 1996, Hulk Hogan transformed his persona into a villain with Hollywood Hogan and formed the now-famous wrestling faction, the New World Order, in World Championship Wrestling.
