Fans of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor are excited to see a fresh new pair work for the first time in Param Sundari. It was on July 30, 2025, when the makers of the movie released the motion picture of the film featuring Janhvi, and it got netizens talking. For the unversed, the movie will showcase a cross-cultural romance between a North Indian boy and a South Indian girl. Well, netizens have loved the first song from the film, Pardesiya crooned by Sonu Nigam, but they feel that the actress has stereotyped South people in the movie.

Param Sundari is set to hit the big screens on August 29, 2025. Fans seeing the poster shared that the makers will show the actress eating dosa and idlis constantly, as if these are the only South Indian dishes. As seen in the poster, Janhvi is wearing temple jewellery, gajra, which again netizens found to be a typical South Indian stereotypical culture. The poster of the actress from the film also went viral on Reddit. One user commented, “She does not look like a Malayali, wish some other actress was there.” Another user penned, “She plays a professional Mohiniyattam dancer. Stereotype much?”
A user even commented that Param Sundari’s Janhvi is stereotyping people from the South. The user shared, “She’ll say ‘Aiyo’ and ‘Seri’ like catchphrases. Always wearing flowers and temple jewellery, like it’s a costume.” One user wanted a South Indian actress in the movie and shared, “Would it have killed them to hire an actual Malayali actress? Or even a south indian actress? Even Rashmika would’ve been a better fit.”

On the other hand, the actress looked dazzling in a traditional dance attire as she performed a few classical dance steps with varied hand and eye expressions. The film has been shot against the picturesque backwaters of Kerala, and the love story of Janhvi and Sidharth will take fans on a roller coaster ride all together. Speaking of the film, Maddock’s chief, Dinesh Vijan, in an interview with Variety, had shared:
“It’s like those films that Mani Sir (Mani Ratnam) used to do, like Saathiya (the Hindi-language remake of the Tamil romance drama Alai Payuthey).”
