NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan on Wednesday questioned the government’s narrative around the Pahalgam terror attack, saying it sounded more like “fiction” than fact.“It feels strange to say this because whatever happened … it felt like something out of a book or a film … people came like this, killed so many people, and yet nothing happened. It’s really unreal,” she said, offering condolences to the families of the victims.“My heart goes out to the families who lost their loved ones. I am a person of emotions, and I will speak from the heart,” she said.Jaya Bachchan also took a dig at the name “Operation Sindoor” — the name given to the India’s military response to Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, questioning its symbolic implications.“First of all, I would like to congratulate you … you have hired writers who come up with grand names. You called it ‘Operation Sindoor’ but the real sindoor (vermilion) was wiped off the foreheads of the women who lost their husbands,” she said. The Samajwadi Party leader also in a direct attack charged at the NDA government saying they have “destroyed the faith and trust of people”.“For us, Kashmir is like paradise. But what did they get from that paradise? You (Ruling Party) have destroyed the faith and trust of the people to whom you made those promises. The families of those people will never forgive you,” she said.“I will not say anything technical or anything that could provoke a fight between Congress and BJP. I just want to say: Be humble. Be kind. Be protective of the people who gave you this position, who gave you this authority, with the hope that you would protect them,” she said.
