Princess Diana’s bridal gown designer, Elizabeth Emanuel, revealed that the young bride-to-be’s body changed weeks before her wedding to Prince Charles. While some brides lose a few inches, Diana has lost a notable amount of weight. Her waist size went from 26 inches to 23 inches.
After many years, Diana revealed what actually triggered her weight loss condition, which was triggered by Bulimia, and it started after her fiance, Prince Charles’ mean comment regarding her weight. In Andrew Morton’s book, Diana said:
“The bulimia started the week after we got engaged (and would take nearly a decade to overcome).”

Recalling the incident, Diana revealed that the moment her husband put his hand on her waistline, he said, “Oh, a bit chubby here, aren’t we?” After which, she started feeling ashamed of herself and wasn’t able to cope with the pressures.
Diana spilled perfume on her gown
Diana walked down the aisle wearing one of her favourite scents, but according to her bridal makeup artist, Barbara Daly, revealed that the young princess accidentally spilt some perfume on her dress. She was trying to put some on her wrists after getting dressed up in the world’s most famous gown. To avoid the perfume mark being visible to people, the makeup artist advised Diana to hold that spot on her dress while she was walking.
Diana had two wedding bouquets to avoid a mishap like Queen Elizabeth
As suggested by Queen Elizabeth, who lost her flower bouquet during her own wedding, she started the tradition of having two identical bouquets to prevent the mishap. The first one was delivered at 8 in the morning to Buckingham Palace, and then a second bouquet was delivered.

According to Diana’s astrologer, Penny Thornton, whom the Princess consulted, revealed that on the night before the wedding, Prince Charles dropped a bomb on Princess Diana. He told her that he didn’t love her. Thorton claimed that Charles might think he should not start the relationship on a false promise. And it was the devastating start to Diana’s so-called ‘happily-ever-after’, which never happened. In a TV’s 2020 documentary, The Diana Interview: Revenge of a Princess, the astrologer said:
“One of the most shocking things that Diana told me was that the night before the wedding, Charles told her that he didn’t love her, I think Charles didn’t want to go into the wedding on a false premise. He wanted to square it with her, and it was devastating for Diana.”
There came a point when Diana considered skipping the wedding. However, it was her two sisters who forced her to get married as the entire world was watching. But Diana’s heart knew that the marriage and her relationship with Prince Charles were doomed. The couple had two children from the marriage, but they never lived a happy life.
