Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi , which was one of the most iconic serials in the history of the Indian Television industry, is back on screens again. After the first season was released in 2000, the story of the ‘Virani parivaar‘ and their ideal bahu, ‘Tulsi’, had every Indian glued to their screens to watch what new drama befalls the family. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 will release on July 29, 2025 (Monday) on Star Plus, the channel where the first season was also broadcast 25 years ago. It will premiere on this channel at 10:30 p.m. sharp. However, when the series was first released more than two decades ago, there was no such thing as OTT platforms back then. But now, more than broadcasting channels, these streaming platforms have become the go-to medium to watch shows. Hence, apart from Star Plus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 will also be available to stream on JioHotstar anytime after 10:30 PM on July 29, 2025.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 number of episodes
The first season ruled over Indian television for eight years, from 2000 to 2008. However, producer, Ekta Kapoor revealed that her magnum opus, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, went off air before it could hit the 2000 episodes milestone. They needed just 150 more episodes for that. Hence, she aims to break this record with season 2 of the show, which will consist of 150 episodes only, as reported by Hindustan Times. Amar Updadhay, who plays the role of ‘Mihir’, also recently revealed to the Indian Express that the upcoming season is going to be a finite series and won’t run for more than a year.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 new and old cast
Both Amar Upadhyay and Smriti Irani are coming back to reprise their roles as ‘Mihir’ and ‘Tulsi’ in the show. Along with them, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Sandeep Baswana, Shilpa Agnihotri and Rakshanda Khan, who were all part of the first season of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, will be seen in the reboot as well. As per a Filmibeat report, Mouni Roy and Pulkit Samrat, who were seen as the well-loved couple, ‘Krishna Tulsi’ and ‘Lakshya’ will also appear in a cameo for the reboot.
Along with the OG starcast, some new additions have also been made to the ‘Virani family’. Shagun Sharma, Rohit Suchanti, and Aman Gandhi will be seen as ‘Mihir’ and ‘Tulsi’s children in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. Three new characters, unrelated to the main ‘Virani family’, will be also introduced in the upcoming show. Popular TV stars, Tanisha Mehta, Ankit Bhatia and Prachi Singh will be playing these roles. Reportedly, Barkha Bisht is going to be the new face of ‘Mandira’.
