Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” rides onto the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, while his “Mama, I’m Coming Home” returns to the ranking after 33 years.

Both classics hit the Aug. 2-dated chart following the rock legend and longtime Black Sabbath frontman’s July 22 death.

“Crazy Train” bows at No. 46 on the Hot 100 thanks to 9.2 million official U.S. streams (up 194% week-over-week), 2.4 million radio audience impressions (up 108%) and 11,000 downloads sold (up 1,184%) in the week ending July 24, according to Luminate.

“Mama, I’m Coming Home” accumulated 8.7 million streams (up 298%), 2.1 million audience impressions (up 143%) and 15,000 paid downloads (up 899%).

Older songs are eligible to appear on the Hot 100 and genre-specific song consumption charts if in the top half of a ranking and with a meaningful reason for their return.

Released in 1980 on Osbourne’s debut solo album Blizzard of Ozz, “Crazy Train” did not make the Hot 100 upon its release despite becoming one of his signature songs. It did rise to No. 9 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart in July 1981.

As for “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” the song peaked at No. 28 on the Hot 100 in April 1992 as a single from Osbourne’s sixth solo album No More Tears. It hit No. 2 on Mainstream Rock Airplay.

Osbourne also reaches the all-genre Streaming Songs chart for the first time as a lead artist via “Crazy Train” (No. 46). He previously appeared on the list as a featured act on Post Malone’s “Take What You Want,” alongside Travis Scott. The collab hit No. 3 in September 2019.

On the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart, “Mama, I’m Coming Home” re-enters at No. 1, becoming Osbourne’s first leader, and “Crazy Train” debuts at No. 2.

Concurrently, “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home” place at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, on the multimetric Hot Hard Rock Songs chart and Nos. 6 and 7 on Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. They’re joined by five additional Osbourne or Black Sabbath songs, with those seven tunes making up the entire top seven of Hot Hard Rock Songs.

Below “Crazy Train” and “Mama, I’m Coming Home,” Osbourne’s “No More Tears” leads the pack at No. 3 on Hot Hard Rock Songs (7.2 million streams, 7,000 sold), followed by Black Sabbath’s “Paranoid” (7.3 million streams, 6,000 sold).

“Crazy Train” and “Paranoid” have now been on Hot Hard Rock Songs and Hot Rock & Alternative Songs for the past three weeks; both re-entered on the July 19 tallies with gains following the July 5 Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England, at which Osbourne and Black Sabbath held their final performances.

As previously reported, Osbourne’s The Essential Ozzy Osbourne reaches No. 7 on the Billboard 200, while Black Sabbath’s Paranoid reenters at No. 37. The Essential Ozzy Osbourne also hits No. 1 on Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums, its first reign on each. Osbourne has three previous rulers on each genre chart: 2022’s Patient Number 9, 2020’s Ordinary Man and 2010’s Scream.

Osbourne died July 22 at age 76, a little more than two weeks removed from his final live performance. A cause of death has not yet been announced; Osbourne had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease in recent years.

All Billboard charts dated Aug. 2 will update on Tuesday, July 29, on Billboard.com.
