Keke Palmer channeled the ’90s in a vintage Versace dress at the premiere of her new film “The Pickup,” costarring Pete Davidson and Oscar-nominated actor Eddie Murphy. The actress paid homage to supermodel Naomi Campbell with her look.

Palmer’s floor-length gown featured a formfitting silhouette with an asymmetric neckline and gray colorways, as well as ornate elements, including the juxtaposition of soft silk on the skirt with textural, shimmering details on the bodice and skirt.

The multihyphenate’s look harkened back to the 13th annual Night of Stars in New York City event in 1996, which featured Campbell as a guest. The supermodel wore the exact same dress as Palmer’s “The Pickup” premiere look, with the addition of a long, sheer sleeve.

Other elements of Palmer’s look continued the ’90s aesthetic. The star of “The Pickup” had her red hair styled with voluminous curls that cascaded down her back. Palmer’s glam was provided by Kenya Alexis and Davontae Washington.

The actress’ look was curated by stylist Molly Dickson, who also collaborates with Sydney Sweeney and Sadie Sink, among others.

Palmer’s “The Pickup” look follows suit with a major resurgence in nostalgia and early 2000s styles. Millennial nostalgia, in particular, sees the return of such style moments and aesthetic choices as low-rise denim, ballet flats and more.

In May 2024, WWD’s Emily Mercer forecasted the ’90s off-duty model aesthetic as a trend-setting style for the season. Collections like Coach’s spring 2024 curation pulled from the ’90s, with doses of nostalgia and elevated style choices aplenty.
