Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, while addressing the newly appointed district presidents of the Congress party in Gujarat on Saturday, said the party was not losing elections because of a lack of effort but because of electoral malpractice.
“You have not lost, you people were being cheated,” Rahul Gandhi said during his address. Without naming the Election Commission directly, he alleged bias and manipulation in the electoral process.
“The umpire was giving you out on a no ball. The way fake voting was done in the voter list and fake voting was happening in Karnataka and Maharashtra, the same is happening in Gujarat for so many years, due to which you people are continuously losing,” Rahul said.
Calling Gujarat the “Gangotri of BJP,” Gandhi stressed the importance of defeating the ruling party in its stronghold. “The defeat of BJP will start from Gujarat itself. This is the Gujarat of Gandhi and Sardar who fought for independence and will now fight against BJP,” he said..
He urged the district leaders to begin grassroots work immediately. “You people should start working on strengthening the organisation from now onwards, you will definitely get results,” he said. Gandhi also underlined their growing influence in the party’s decision-making processes. “Now your role will be important in the selection of candidates in every election.”
Assuring full support from his side, Gandhi added, “You people have to go among the people with the failures of the central and state government and wherever there is a need, you will call me and I will come.”
Congress state in-charge Mukul Wasnik said that Rahul Gandhi also emphasised the need to strengthen the voter list and reiterated the critical role of district presidents in the party’s future strategy.
Following the training session, Gandhi interacted with the district leaders, addressed their questions, and later met with milk producers, promising to take their issues to Parliament. “Congress will be with you in your fight for justice. If you call me, I will definitely come,” he said.
He also met with the families of victims of the Gambhira bridge accident, in which 20 people lost their lives. Gandhi listened to their grievances and assured them of justice.
As part of the Organisation Creation Campaign, Gandhi inaugurated a three-day training camp for the new district presidents. The objective of the camp is to equip them with strategies to strengthen the organisation and carry forward the Congress ideology.
This was Rahul Gandhi’s fourth visit to Gujarat in the past four months, reinforcing the Congress party’s focus on the state as it prepares to expand its organisational revival across the country.
