AMC is making a big change to Interview With the Vampire for the show’s third season. The core cast remains, as does showrunner Rolin Jones, but the series is being retitled as The Vampire Lestat.

The change, announced Saturday at Comic-Con, marks a shift in the series based on Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles novels. Seasons one and two of Interview With the Vampire, inspired by Rice’s first novel, focused on the relationship between Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and the vampire who turned him, Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid), with Louis recounting his story to journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian).

Season three will shift to Lestat’s point of view, as Reid’s character becomes a rock star and tries to reclaim his story from the way Louis told it, inspired by Rice’s second novel in the series (also called The Vampire Lestat).

Along with Reid, Anderson and Bogosian, Delainey Hayles (Cluadia) and Assad Zaman (Armand) will reprise their roles in the new season, due in 2026. The Vampire Lestat has also cast Jennifer Ehle (Lioness, Zero Dark Thirty) as Gabriella, Ella Ballentine as Baby Jenks, Jeanine Serralles (Apples Never Fall) as Chrstine Claire, Christopher Heyerdahl (Under the Banner of Heaven) as Marius and Damien Atkins as Magnus.

Also at Comic-Con, AMC announced an Oct. 26 premiere date for Talamasca, the third series in the cable and streaming outlet’s Anne Rice universe (The Mayfair Witches is the other). The show centers on a secret society that tracks and contains witches, vampires and other creatures. Nicholas Denton, William Fichtner, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Elizabeth McGovern and Celine Buckens star; Bogosian will make a guest appearance as Molloy, and Jason Schwartzman also guest stars.

AMC also showed a trailer for Talamasca during the Comic-Con panel; watch it below.

Jones executive produces The Vampire Lestat with Mark Johnson, who oversees the Anne Rice properties for AMC, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.

Talmasca’s executive producers are co-showrunners John Lee Hancock (who also directs) and Mark Lafferty, Johnson, Tom Williams, Christopher Rice and Anne Rice.
