Smriti Irani has always made headlines because of her presence both on television and in Indian politics. Recently, she is generating a lot of buzz as she will be making her comeback as ‘Tulsi’ in the popular show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot version. Smriti Irani’s personal journey has inspired several people but behind her success, stands a man who has rarely been in the spotlight, which is her husband, Zubin Irani.
Despite not being a public personality, Zubin Irani has been the biggest supporter of Smriti Irani. Their relationship started when Smriti was trying to enter the entertainment industry. But, while everybody knows Smriti Irani, not many know that Zubin Irani is a businessman based in Mumbai.
Who is Zubin Irani?
Zubin Irani is a successful businessman and the husband of the famous politician and actress, Smriti Irani. He was born and brought up in Mumbai and he belongs to a Parsi family. While not much is available about his early education, he is known to have pursued studies from India before entering the corporate world. Even though he maintains a low profile, Zubin has made a respectful position for himself in the business world. Zubin Irani is involved with the plastic and polymer manufacturing industry.
Zubin Irani and Smriti Irani’s love story
Zubin Irani met Smriti Irani during the early phase of her career. Smriti Irani was 16 years old, when she started her career in modelling. At that time, she took part in the Miss India contest and made it to the Top 5.
When they met, they did not instantly fall in love. Rather, Smriti became close friends with a Parsi girl, Mona, who later married Zubin. After the couple got married, Smriti stayed away from them and focused on her career. Later, when Mona and Zubin separated, Zubin and Smriti became friends. They started to spend time together and eventually fell in love. In 2001, the couple got married. The couple has 2 children as well – a son, Zohr and a daughter, Zoish. Smriti once spoke about her marriage and said:
“I married Zubin because I needed him. I was consulting him, talking to him and meeting him every day. So we said why not marry and be best friends as well as a married couple. Both my parents and his agreed to our marriage and blessed us. I would never dream of marrying against the wishes of my parents because I believe strongly that hurting parents causes unhappiness and destruction for the couple.”
Zubin Irani’s first marriage with Mona Irani
Before Smriti, Zubin Irani was married to Mona, who was a model coordinator in the fashion industry. The couple had a stable life after marriage for years. They even had a daughter, Shanelle Irani. Eventually, their marriage didn’t work out and ended in a divorce. But unlike a few divorces, they handled their divorce quietly with dignity, without any public drama. Even after their marriage, they had mutual respect for each other and focused on giving a good life to their daughter.
Smriti Irani was friends with Zubin Irani’s ex-wife, Mona Irani
Smriti Irani has often spoken about being friends with Zubin’s ex-wife, Mona. As said earlier, Mona used to be Smriti’s best friend and till date, Smriti remains respectful towards Mona and her daughter, Shanelle. Smriti has often shared:
“I’m lucky to have Zubin, who is an asset to me. People are surprised that my marriage is so successful despite his earlier divorce. But I’m friends with Mona, his ex-wife and their daughter Shanelle. Their differences are none of my business. My life with him and the two children are my business and I want to do my best.”
Zubin Irani may not be a public figure but his unmatched support for Smriti has always caught everyone’s attention. His silent presence, family values and calm personality speaks volumes about him.
