Rosé stepped out in New York on Friday evening wearing one of the season’s most visible shoe silhouettes — one typically reserved for daytime but now firmly planted in nightlife and even red carpet territory: the flip-flop.

The Blackpink singer wore the low-profile sandals with light-washed loose denim and a black camisole trimmed in lace. Her pair featured a matte finish and slightly molded base, visible under the frayed hem of her jeans. The silhouette stayed stripped down, free of logos or hardware.

Flip-flops have become a fixture across celebrity wardrobes this summer. Latto wore white thong sandals under blush Chanel gaiters at Wimbledon. Pharrell introduced pastel crocodile versions at Louis Vuitton’s spring 2026 menswear show. Jonathan Bailey kept things pared back in black leather flip-flops from The Row during his press run for “Jurassic World: Rebirth.”

Rosé’s pair leaned more utilitarian than luxury — close to the ground, unbranded, and shaped for wear. But the styling still aligned with a broader shift toward minimalist takes on the silhouette.

This shift, sparked in part by The Row’s $900 leather thongs back in 2021, has since grown into a full-blown revival. From archival zōri influences to new biodegradable foam soles, the modern flip-flop blends casual ease with cultural staying power.

This month alone, ERL released an exaggerated platform version with an 8-inch sole, while Dolce & Gabbana’s Havaianas collaboration sold out in a day. The shape has circulated everywhere from designer runways to under-$40 fast fashion, making it one of the most replicated silhouettes of the season.

She completed the look with a slouchy black shoulder bag, silver chain necklace and narrow rectangular sunglasses. Her hair was worn long and center-parted, matching the outfit’s relaxed structure.

Rosé’s take stays functional but on-trend — a quiet reset in a season packed with statement sneakers and vintage reissues.
