Varun Dhawan took to his Instagram story to share WWE’s official tribute to the superstar, writing, “You inspired an entire generation Hulkster… RIP.” The actor, known for his love of pop culture, has often spoken about his admiration for professional wrestling and its influence on his formative years.
Arjun Kapoor, too, mourned Hogan’s death in a heartfelt Instagram story, penning, “A part of my childhood just went with u Hulkster….. Thank u for the memories.” The Gunday actor has frequently referenced WWE’s golden era and remains an avid fan of the sport’s larger-than-life personas.
Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, was a towering figure in professional wrestling and a household name throughout the 1980s and ‘90s. Known for his bulging biceps, trademark blond horseshoe moustache, bandana-clad look, and catchphrases like “Whatcha gonna do when Hulkamania runs wild on you?”, Hogan helped bring WWE (then WWF) into the mainstream, becoming a pop culture sensation and wrestling’s first global superstar.
WWE confirmed Hogan’s demise on July 24 through a statement on its official social media handles, “WWE is saddened to learn legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
According to reports, Hogan died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Clearwater, Florida. The death came just a month after he underwent major spinal fusion surgery. While there were speculations around his health, his wife Sky clarified that the surgery wasn’t linked to any broader health complications.
The passing of Hulk Hogan marks the end of an era for millions across the globe — fans, athletes, and entertainers alike. For many Indian millennials who grew up watching him in the ring, the news hits home, evoking a wave of nostalgia and reverence.
