The recently released trailer for War 2 has sparked massive excitement among fans, especially with a surprise visual tribute to actor Tiger Shroff’s character from the original film. While Tiger doesn’t appear physically in the sequel, he makes a nostalgic return in the form of a photo cameo as Capt. Khalid Rahmani — Kabir’s protégé from War (2019).

The moment appears in a key emotional beat of the trailer, where Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir Dhaliwal reflects on Khalid’s sacrifice. The blink-and-miss glimpse of Khalid’s framed photo has caught the attention of many and social media is already abuzz with appreciation for the homage.
Tiger Shroff’s character had a significant arc in War, where he played a young RAW agent mentored by Hrithik’s Kabir, only to meet a tragic end. His appearance in the War 2 trailer is a nod to continuity and the emotional depth of the YRF Spy Universe.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 serves as the sixth installment in the expanding Spy Universe created by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. The sequel stars Hrithik Roshan reprising his role as Kabir, with Jr. NTR joining the franchise as the fierce and mysterious Special Units Officer Vikram. According to the film’s plot, Vikram is sent to eliminate Kabir, who has now fully embraced the role of a rogue agent, becoming India’s most dangerous threat.
The trailer also offers the first look at Kiara Advani, reportedly playing army officer Kavya Luthra, who is speculated to be Kabir’s love interest and the daughter of Colonel Luthra, portrayed once again by Ashutosh Rana. The dynamics between Kabir, Vikram, and Kavya appear central to the sequel’s narrative.
Adding to the excitement, War 2 will reportedly introduce the leads of YRF’s next spy film Alpha, with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari making special appearances.
War 2, written by Shridhar Raghavan, Abbas Tyrewala, and Aditya Chopra, will hit theatres on August 14, 2025, in multiple languages.
