Shaheen Shah Afridi has made his T20I return as Pakistan announced their squads for the upcoming West Indies tour on Friday, July 25. Shaheen last played a T20I match during the tour of New Zealand earlier this year and was snubbed from the squad for the Bangladesh series. Along with Shaheen, Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali made a return to the T20I squad.
However, Babar Azam continued to be on the sidelines as far as the shortest format of the game was considered. Babar is part of the ODI squad along with Shaheen, with Mohammad Rizwan leading the side. Hasan Nawaz is the only uncapped player who was added to the 16-member squad for the 50-over format. Salman Ali Agha will be leading the team in the T20Is and act as Rizwan’s deputy for the ODIs.
Pakistan are looking for a turnaround in fortunes after losing the T20I series to Bangladesh 2-1. The three T20Is against West Indies will take place in Lauderhill, USA, and then both teams will head to the Carribean for the three ODIs.
